The blog is finally here-- I was going to put my full versions without the cuts on my own blog, but, after reading... some things are best kept for ourselves and I like the edited versions. So, I'm just going to link it up. Thank you to Susan McKenzie for doing all the editing!
On the MascallDance blog is daily entries from the workshop with reflections and notes from each class.
This workshop kicked my ass in all the ways that were necessary and has propelled me into a full-time commitment to BMC research. In fact, it has seeped in so deep, that it has become the foundation for my performance art practice, using the BMC methodologies, but with various applications and approaches such as character study, durational performance, public intervention and other varied exercises and research. It has been an incredible journey so far between the ins and outs of the… ins and outs…
hahaha.
so my humour is a bit twisted now, too... no one understands me! nah, just joshing.
However, it's valid to bring up: while continuing my research, I’ve realized that guidance and support is imperative if I want to continue my work/explorations safely and productively, but finding a location, community and teacher that is both balanced and dynamic is a unique process in its own regard. So, I’ve slowed my own work a bit while I attempt to seek out the classes and teachers I feel connected and work well with. But that whole notion goes for anything-- meeting new people, university classes, work environments, or collaborative projects. Connection is necessary, important and delicate, especially when we’re working on the quintessence of inter-connectivity.
Funny though, I always viewed interconnectivity as connecting with whatever was outside of myself... but how do we as individuals articulate meaning to the outside, without first yielding to both our inner intention and our environment?
Just thoughts… check out the MascallDance blog!
